Meet Tracey, aerial landscape photographer

Hi :)

I’m a photographer of mostly aerial landscapes, although I like to mix things up with other genres too.

I gained my CASA Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) in November 2018 and began growing my little drone fleet to help me capture what I’ve seen in places.

Since then, I have been exploring a few other parts of the world, and my trusty metal steed Jack has been my companion on my Australian travels.

Nikon cameras and that little fleet of drones are my companions on my adventures, when exploring out the back with Jack. The first ‘Jack’ was my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Overland. We went so many places!

Jack 2.0 is my new-to-me Toyota Landcruiser 78 series, or Troopy, if you know your LC series ;)

When I’m not off adventuring, I’m based in far north Perth.

The first ‘Jack’ was my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Overland. We went so many places!

I have a new ‘Jack’ now, Just like in the famed Phantom cartoon, the spirit of Jack has moved to my new vehicle, a 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Troopcarrier. Of course being brand new he will need to be kitted out for camping comfortably too, as was the Jeep.

Jack of course has his own Instagram and Facebook accounts too.

The blog is posted under Out the back with Jack and tells aspects of our adventures and experiences when capturing the images I share and sell. I usually post to Instagram & Facebook during the week, with a smattering of stories, reels and carousels.

Blog posts on my website are also shared to Facebook and Instagram.

Here we are again….

Well hello…. How have you all been?

It’s been a long while since I last wrote. I took some pressure off myself and stepped away from posting for a bit, refocusing elsewhere for a while.

It was an amazing refreshing break.

While I’ve been offline, Jack got his own new personalised plate, and had new spotlights fitted, finally!!! Then I parked him up and…

The unexpected

The Nullabor Muster

The Nullabor Muster is a rodeo held annually in Rawlinna, a tiny abandoned town approximately 380km east of Kalgoorlie, on the edge of the Nullabor Plain, in Western Australia.

Heading home…

When you’ve been away for a while, whether its for a couple of days or a couple of weeks, or if you’re really lucky maybe a month or two.. and you’ve had an amazing time, the lasts become more... noticeable.

You’re more aware and more, maybe present I guess.

On the last day you either pack as much last minute ‘holidaying’ in, or have a slow, relaxing day; either way you’re soaking up the last aspects of your holiday experience.

Heading out…

‘C’mon kid, let’s roll. Its time to cut a track and hit the open road’, cried Jack, ‘hook on and lets go!’

Who do you think you’re calling a kid, buddy? I’ve got a couple of years on you, so just settle down, straighten up so I can hook on behind you and we can get outta here’ replied Jilly.

The yellow bag…

There it lay, on the dirty, rocky and corrugated road, a huge cloud of dust smothering it as the filthy air slowly settled onto and around the yellow bin bag, still carrying its precious cargo.

Where am I, the bag wondered, why am I here? Where’s my yellow Jeep and why has it left me behind?

“I hope they come back for me”, it thought to itself.
