The long way…

Taking a few days off giving me a long weekend to escape the city, it was with glee that Jack and I hit the road.

Having a gist of an idea as to my actual destination for the night I headed north east, towards the town of Cue. From memory there was a track that led to a small area that would be perfect to camp at.

It was going to be a moonless night and I was looking forward to shooting the sliver of moon expected the next morning.

I was so happy to be back on the road, and figured I should check on some favourite spots along the way, to see how they were looking after the extremely long summer we’d experienced had broken.

The grasses were green everywhere, the lakes at least half full, and the world looked a little less dusty than usual.

Having taken the extra time to check on those locations, the sun had long set by the time I reached my destination, and under the moonless inky black sky it was impossible to find the faint side track I’d hoped to camp down.

Its not unlike me to be setting up camp in the dark, my roof top tent is very quick and easy to set up so its not a major to be setting up in the dark.

I try and have a couple of options up my sleeve for camping, so continued on to my back up spot, Lake Nallan which is around 20 odd km north of Cue.

Being my first time here I wasn’t sure what I’d find, and was happy to find the area much larger than it looked on the map, with lots of different places to set up. It seemed pretty well populated so I found a spot down the back and parked up.

Setting up under a billion or so stars, it was a no brainer to sit and soak up some of that beauty before finally calling it a night.

It had been a big day on the road and I had more to explore over the next few days…
