Sunrise… sunset…
Up before the crack of dawn and out the door, my head and hands toasty warm inside my new beanie and fingerless mittens made at top speed by my talented daughter over Christmas, I was off in Terry the Tucson to try and capture the GGB in the morning light.
Taking the longer scenic route to my chosen location, I set up my camera a short way from Fort Point, on the south side of the bridge. It’s a great location to see a whole different perspective of the bridge than is most commonly seen.
I was the only person there, except for the odd solitary runner, listening to the waves washing up against the rocks, watching the sky glow with early morning light behind the cityscape.
A little further down on Torpedo Wharf, a gaggle? of fishermen’s chatter mingled with the mews of seagulls, while latecomers were laughingly teased by their earlier rising counterparts.
The sun rose. Runners and walkers mingled, seagulls scavenged for breakfast…. the day had begun.
Back for sunset, high above the fort, beside the highway leading across the bridge is another popular viewing location. Its also where the base of bridge operations is housed.
Tourists and locals mingle, taking in the scenic beauty of the coastline and bridge, learning about the bridge and its construction from the Information boards and displays dotted along vantage points and walking tracks.
Meandering around the huge site, capturing clouds blowing in as the sky grew overcast, and the rain began… settling in for the next few days…
I definitely have to go back….
