The tree…
What is it about a tree that catches your attention, stops you in your tracks, prompts a second look, or makes you linger and just really look at it…
Is it the way the perfectly shaped branches stretch upwards in symphony with each other, its leaves crowning its beautifully symmetrical body.
Maybe the stark beauty of a single tree rising above the surrounding scrubbery, its trunk & branches uncovered in its dormancy, standing strong against the cooler seasons till it’s clothed in foliage again.
It could be how the withered remnant of a trunk remains standing in place… its gnarled arms still a welcome resting spot for travelling birds, or a hangout for the local bird population.
Maybe it’s a single tree reaching its branches high into the sky, swaying gently in the wind, marking the passing of the days, sunrise to sunset, around and around.
Or the sheer tenacity of a weather beaten tree, its roots clinging in place against the harsh winds of the coast.
When was the last time you stopped to look at a tree?
