How did she do?
In a nutshell? Pretty damn well luckily :)
I was ready for whatever was going to happen, running mostly out of Jack, just in case.
However this time she did really well. It was a long and very corrugated road to the Springs where we camped that first night out, and she was faultless, I couldn’t have asked for a better behaved little camper trailer, for where she’s currently at anyway.
She opened up beautifully, stood proud and strong under the moon and in between the trees. Roomy, steady and perfectly set up for the night, and beautifully easy to pack up quickly when it was time to get moving early the next morning.
One of the key reasons I bought her was because when I’m out exploring during the warmer months, especially summer, it can be challenging finding somewhere to just park up and be able to stretch out comfortably, waiting for the heat to dissipate a bit as the sun travels along its daily path.
So, this second day provided the perfect opportunity to test out my theory. It was 39 in the shade, and in the open so into a nearby national park we went, meandering along the dirt road looking for the designated camping areas. I was the only one in there that day, everyone else had likely hit the coast for the breeze, and the chance to escape the heat in the cool coastal waters.
We drove around the camping area and selected our spot. Im pretty new to the whole reversing of the camper so it was the perfect place to practise and try to hone my reversing skills, till Jilly was nicely parked up and ready to unhook.
The unhooking done, and Jilly popped up and opened, and inside I went, shutting the sun out and sprawling out across the bed, making myself quite comfortable for the afternoon.
I napped, I snacked, I read, I surfed the web, I wrote, I napped a bit more, I unpacked a few things from Jack and just hung out. It was amazing. It was everything I hoped for.
I was still hot, but able to get much more comfortable in the camper than I could by sitting in Jack.
I was free from the flies, and with the addition of a couple of extra fans will be able to relax very comfortably on hot days out of the sun.
So that was it…two days out with the camper opened up and shut down each day, and not a single hiccup….until…
… we got home - one of the lifting cables snapped when I went to clean her out…so back to the caravan repair place we went. Luckily they were able to fit us in straight away and had Jilly fixed really quickly so she will be all ready to go again.
A perfect trip out on the road- that’s pretty fantastic. 😁
