Sublime Sunday…

That crazy quick trip north recently provided the perfect opportunity to escape a very wintery Perth and head for a warmer northern climate.

Drone and camera batteries were fully charged and my little drone crew loaded in to Jack in anticipation of the chance to fly high and wide, spinning their little props through the air.

As luck would have it the crazy wintery weather followed us most of the way, the gusty winds helping push my loveable aerodynamic brick along the road…. of course!

That Sunday morning though there was barely a breath of wind anywhere…so I took the opportunity to let Max out to stretch his props… it was a beautifully calm morning, the waves were lapping gently against the shore, and the world seemed to be enjoying a calm soothing flow.

Spying some birds paddling on the waters, I let Max fly far behind them, keeping far enough away so I didn’t disturb their peaceful morning, using the zoom lens to watch them for a bit.

I don’t often fly over water, it’s not where I usually explore so I was pretty excited to see a shark slowly meandering through the shallow waters, happily minding his own business.

I don’t often shoot video either but couldn’t resist the opportunity to film one of these revered and often feared animals of the sea enjoying his morning wander, that is until….. his shark-y senses alerted him to a bigger shark swimming his way.

He spun quickly and shot off away from the bigger shark heading towards him…

Luckily, from what I could see, the bigger shark was also enjoying a leisurely swim through the calm and shallow waters, and so paid no attention to where the smaller shark had gone.

With the excitement over, I went back to exploring the scenery below Max. I loved how the piles of seaweed were all intertwined, and bobbing along in the water leaving long sweeping trails of debris on the shallow sand beneath the water… like long lashes stretching across the bay.

Once I got home and downloaded the video and image files, I found what I think look like a couple of lines of little stingrays swimming in a couple of lines, a bit like how kids line up in primary school

What do you think… am I right?

If I am, how cool!! 🤩

I think I should do more of this exploring over water sometimes…. it’s pretty cool, the scenery is amazing and it was a beautiful way to take time out to enjoy the morning 😌
