Time to go home…
I love being on the road.
Exploring country roads & dirt tracks, looking for my kind of treasure in those big wide open spaces.
I like getting home too.
A side trip to the local car wash on the way, to get rid of all the dirt and grime on Jack. With a big green Bunnings next door it makes sense to grab a hot dog to see me through.
Pulling up in the driveway, we’re greeted by a little white cat patiently waiting for the big yellow truck to come back. I reckon she’ll come with us… one day.
Unpacking the car is always faster than to packing it.
Gear sits out ready to clean, dirty washing goes straight into the machine, and then it’s my turn.
Into the shower to wash off all those grimy layers of sunblock, bug repellent, dirt and sweat. It gets pretty hot out there.
Finally I can sit down and relax, with some leftover snacks or a leftover meal. It’s a good time to download all the image files collected on the trip.
It’s a good brain break after concentrating on the drive, searching for interesting scenes, on keeping watch for kangaroos and any other critters venturing on to the road.
Lastly my gear gets cleaned and packed away, ready for our next trip out.
I love my rooftop tent but its got nothing on my own bed and mattress…..
It’s good to be home 😌
